Old-world glamour on the Sicilian coast. One hundred years ago, an Englishman and his family built their dream villa on the Bay of Mazzarò, and the Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea has been an irresistible Sicilian retreat ever since. Perched on an idyllic stretch of the Sicilian coast, this former villa oozes glamour and old-world charm. One of the most romantic hotels in Taormina, we drove from our villa in Comiso and arrived with great anticipation for a decadent overnight treat. Although raining when we got there, it didn't dampen our spirits as we enjoyed a cappuccino and glass of prosecco in the beautiful lounge as we waited for our corner suite to become ready. With reservations at the acclaimed Ristorante Oliviero, we looked forward to chef Agostina D'Angelo's Mediterranean cuisine overlooking the dazzling sea below.
Arriving at the Belmond Villa Sant'Andrea
Orange tree just beside the entrance
Beautiful Sicilian ceramics from Caltagirone, with the iconic Moorish 'heads' so typical of the island
Full of character, the antique vases are family heirlooms of the villa's original owner
Antique soup tureen similar to the one we purchased
The beautifully decorated sitting area overlooking the sea
Arriving mid morning, we enjoyed a frothy cappuccino in the lounge as we waited for our room to be ready
Almost noon, it was definitely time for a glass of prosecco...or two!
The Belmond infinity pool overlooking the bay in the rain
The outdoor bar beside Ristorante Oliviero
View from the bar terrace overlooking the Belmond
The Belmond Sant'Andrea private beach
We were delighted with our special corner suite
Boasting two balconies, a view overlooking the sea and big fluffy king sized bed,
we felt that we had landed in the lap of luxury
Beautiful tiled shower with rain shower head
Complimentary freshly-made Sicilian sweet treats were in our room upon arrival
Lovey handmade ceramic coffee cups in our suite
