Raffles Hotel in Singapore: Timeless Elegance

At the dawn of the Golden Age of Travel, Raffles Hotel opened in Singapore in 1887. Witness to history and the shaping of its age, Raffles played host to royalty, dignitaries, screen goddesses and literary greats. Over a century later, the legend lives on, an oasis of timeless elegance loved by generations past, present and future. Named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the British diplomat and founder of modern Singapore, the hotel quickly became a magnet for glamorous society globetrotters and culturalists from all shores, eager to experience its exquisite combination of grandeur and charm. Staying here became a rite of passage among adventurers, who saw it as a sophisticated gateway to the exotic East.

Arriving at Raffles for a week after our month-long Silversea Cruise in their Mercedes limousine, and welcomed by the liveried Sikh Doormen recognised by their immaculate white turbans, and being ambassadors of Raffles Hotel Singapore, we were escorted to the signature Studio King Suite with arcaded terrace overlooking the lush Palm Court and iconic cast-iron fountain. With grace and sophistication embodied by the impeccable butlers, Raffles is known to connoisseurs around the world for its unique blend of British etiquette and tropical magnificence. Celebrating life with all the grace and elegance of this legendary destination, we looked forward to exploring Singapore with its dynamic blend of modern marvels, rich culture and celebrated food scene.
