Cairns: Palm Grove & Botanical Gardens

Home to one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches, Palm Cove in the Whitsunday area of North Queensland is a modern tropical paradise with palm trees, lovely shops, a fishing jetty, nearby islands and also home to the deadly Irukandji jellyfish. These tiny, venomous creatures can pass through standard stinger nets, causing severe, delayed reaction stings known as Irukandji syndrome, and were warned against while diving on the Great Barrier Reef, donning 'stinger suits'.

A short drive from Palm Grove is the Cairns Botanic Gardens, often referred to as the Flecker Botanical Gardens, a premier tropical plant showcase featuring the impressive Watkins Munro Martin Conservatory known for its stunning collection of orchids, ferns, bromeliads, and butterflies. Inside the conservatory, a one-way meandering path leads visitors through a climate-controlled environment that houses some of the garden's most valuable and delicate tropical specimens
