The Dove Riverside Pub in Hammersmith

A charming, much-loved pub with an incredible history, The Dove has been a fixture of London life for centuries. Set on the River Thames at the top of a bend offering fabulous views east and west, it's the best pub in Hammersmith for great atmosphere, wonderful fresh food and of course a quenching pint of ale. Owned by Fullers since 1796, this charming waterside pub where Charles II and Nell Gwynne once dined, it's in the Guinness Book of World Records as the smallest bar room in the world, at just four feet two inches wide and seven feet ten inches long. Throughout the years the pub's sturdy bar has propped up some famous customers that include Graham Greene, Ernest Hemingway, Dylan Thomas and Alec Guinness. Poet James Thomson even composed the familiar strains of ‘Rule Britannia’ while lodging at The Dove, Charles II romanced and dined his mistress Nell Gwynn here and William Morris lived next door.

However, The Dove isn’t a monument to history – it’s a thriving and much-loved London pub catering to locals and visitors alike, with regulars coming back over and over again for exactly the same reason as Charles II did – the outstanding real ales, fine wines and delicious food. Chef Francis Crane and his team craft their menus to showcase the finest quality ingredients, with expertly created dishes that change with the seasons. "We’re proud to serve delicious, creative, inspired food in every Fuller’s pub and restaurant. But we know that great food doesn’t just come from our chefs and our kitchens, it all starts with the farmers and growers who share our commitment to fresh, local, sustainable produce". Sitting next to the fire, or out on The Dove's beautiful riverside terrace, you're not just sitting in any old "local" – it's part of London’s rich historic legacy.
