Overlooking the Niagara River, Harbour House pays tribute to Niagara-on-the-Lake’s rich maritime history as a port town in the 1880s with nautical-inspired guest rooms and suites that feature king-size beds with down duvet covers, whirlpool tubs, and cozy fireplaces. Within easy walking distance to the acclaimed Shaw Festival theatres and many fine restaurants, shops and galleries set amid verdant tree-lined streets accented with cast-iron planters bursting with flowers, and iconic horse-drawn carriages, Harbour House features a delicious European-style breakfast in the elegant light-filled conservatory with lovely baked goods and seasonal Niagara-grown produce, and in the late afternoon, wine and cheese are served in the Library Lobby. With polished Granny Smith apples graciously offered throughout the day, we were treated to fresh chocolate chip cookies on our bed when we returned from seeing Witness for the Prosecution at the King George Theatre. Designed by architect Wayne Murray, Harbour House was inspired by the American shingle styling of the late 19th century, creating the elegant manor house that is one of the iconic boutique hotels in the quiet paradise of Niagara-on-the Lake.
