Vaughan's Cupcake Queens: 'We Bake in Heels'

Cupcake mavens and best friends Adrienne D’Amico and Cat D’Agostino both had great jobs until a few years ago when they both decided to throw in the towel and pick up their aprons and launch We Bake in Heels - 'A Cake Boutique for the Style-Savvy Shopper.' Now with two locations in Toronto — a retail store in Woodbridge and Cupcake Booth at Vaughan Mills — the dynamic duo are baking up a cupcake storm, creating culinary confections for weddings, showers, and all flavours of special occasions.

I met Adrienne and Cat at a media event to launch Lux Spa's new 211 Yonge Street location. In celebration of the new digs, Cathy Crispo Mancini, President and CEO Lux Spa, asked the Cupcake Queens to sweeten the day with a divine selection of Red Velvet, Decadent Chocolate and Classic Vanilla cupcakes to mark the occasion. And they hit the target. The cupcakes were wonderfully light, delectably moist and best of all — not too sweet.

arrive in style, and intact! 

Originating a few years ago in places like Manhattan's Magnolia Bakery, cupcakes have spread through Toronto's bakeries like red velvet wildfire. Adrienne and Cat's enormous success is a testament to their hard work, long hours and good fortune that the cupcake craze continues to thrive, and that they've diversified their business in other divinely decadent directions.

In addition to making over ten fabulous flavours of cakes and cupcakes, the duo also offers a wide variety of French Macarons, Designer Cookies, Ganache Cake Truffles, Custom Cakes for any kind of occasion and of course, the ever popular giant cupcakes, which we all thoroughly enjoyed at the downtown Lux Spa event. And in case you're wondering — yes, they do bake in heels.
