Toscanino Trattoria-Vinothek: Authentic Tuscan Cuisine

One of Bamberg's truly exceptional restaurants, Toscanino Trattoria-Vinothek is a culinary gem. Praised for its authentic Tuscan cuisine and exquisite wines from South Tyrol to Sicily and Tuscany, this wonderful restaurant is warm and inviting, with a true Italian ambiance. Nestled in a 150-year-old listed coach house, formerly the stables of Coachman's Courtyard, is in the heart of Scheßlitz with original timber framing and a vaulted hall which are beautifully preserved, and showcased in a warm stylish setting that's welcoming and refined.

Owned and run by Uwe and Pia Köhl and their team, the menu features a selection of delectable options, including homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and sensational meats, fish and seafood. Beginning with one or two glasses of Franciacorta, our favourite Italian champagne, we shared a wonderful selection of homemade crostini that were sensational. We followed by a robust Bigoli al Ragu di Cinghiale with a glass of Piedmontese Nebbiolo, and Giant Black Tiger Prawns paired with a Manzoni Bianco from Veneto. To finish, we shared Chef Pia's rich and creamy Tiramisu topped with a groundcherry. A lovely Macchiato rounded off the evening, before we wend our way back to Hotel Villa Geyerswörth for a good nights sleep before heading off to Nuremberg the following day.
