A little corner of Cyprus in the heart of the Cotswolds, Michael's Mediterranean is nestled within an historic 17th-century honey-coloured stone building on Chipping Camden High Street. Cypriot chef Michael Alexiou left Cyprus, where he trained at a French culinary school, and bought Woolmarket House in 1986 transforming it into this charming restaurant serving traditional Greek cuisine. Michael's has featured in the Sunday Times’ review as one of the best Greek restaurants in the UK, and US travel guru Rick Steves has featured Michael’s Restaurant in his travel book entitled Best of England. Using locally-sourced ingredients, Michael and Sarah Alexiou's dinner menu boasts a wonderful array of Mezze dishes, seafood and seasonal daily specials, as well as their renowned “Marathona” steaks, a generous portion of beef from a rare Gloucestershire breed. Arriving for dinner on a Monday evening, Michael's was bustling, popular with locals and visitors alike who are drawn to Chipping Campden's undeniable charm. Warm and inviting with an excellent menu, it's not surprising this delightful restaurant is always busy.
